Wrap It Up Inside Three Days

Australia produced a ruthless performance on Day 3 at the Sabina Park to crush West Indies by 176 runs, sweeping the three-match Test series 3–0. In a day dominated by the fast bowlers, West Indies crumbled for just 27 runs in their second innings—their second-lowest Test score ever—as Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland delivered a masterclass in hostile bowling.

Australia’s Second Innings – 121 All Out (37 overs)

Australia resumed with a small lead but quickly lost wickets in clusters. Usman Khawaja was the first to fall for 14 off 21 balls, bowled by Shamar Joseph. Steve Smith made just 5 before falling to Alzarri Joseph, while opener Sam Konstas was dismissed for a duck.

Cameron Green showed grit with a vital 42 off 66 deliveries, including 6 fours, before being removed by Shamar Joseph. Travis Head added 16, and Beau Webster scored 13, but no other batter could settle. Carey (0), Cummins (5), Boland (1), and Hazlewood (4) fell cheaply, leaving Australia all out for 121 in just 37 overs.

With the ball, Alzarri Joseph was outstanding, claiming 5 wickets for 27 runs in 12 overs. Shamar Joseph continued to impress, taking 4 for 34 in 13 overs, while Justin Greaves chipped in with one.

West Indies Second Innings – 27 All Out (14.3 overs)

Chasing 204 for victory, West Indies collapsed dramatically in the face of hostile Australian bowling. Mitchell Starc was unplayable, claiming 6 wickets for just 9 runs in 7.3 overs. He removed Campbell (0), Louis (4), Anderson (0), King (0), Hope (2), and Seales (0), breaking the West Indian backbone before it could even form.

Scott Boland grabbed 3 for 2 in 2 overs, dismissing Greaves, Seales, and Warrican. Hazlewood added a key scalp with the dismissal of Roston Chase.

West Indies were bundled out for 27 runs—the lowest ever Test score against Australia and their second-lowest in history.

West Indies 1st Innings – 143 All Out

Earlier, in the first innings, the West Indies managed only 143. Roston Chase was the top scorer with 43, and debutant Greaves added 25. Australia’s bowling attack fired again—Mitchell Starc claimed 4 for 35 and Hazlewood took 3 for 29, with Boland and Webster also chipping in.

Australia 1st Innings – 225 All Out

Australia had posted 225 in their first innings, thanks to fifties from Head (57) and Green (51). Contributions came down the order too, including 31 from Carey and 27 by Starc. Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph shared 8 wickets between them to restrict the hosts.

Milestones and Records on Day 3:

  • Cameron Green crossed 1000 Test runs during his gritty second innings knock.

  • Alzarri Joseph completed his 100th Test wicket with the dismissal of Pat Cummins.
