Farhan, Salman Shine as Pakistan Avoid Whitewash Against Bangladesh in Final T20I

MIRPUR: In the final clash of the three-match T20I series, Pakistan salvaged pride with a convincing 74-run victory over Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Thursday. The result not only helped Pakistan avoid a clean sweep but also brought some relief after back-to-back defeats.

The win was scripted by a power-packed knock from Sahibzada Farhan, who made an immediate impact in his first appearance of the series, and a fiery three-wicket burst by Salman Mirza, who dismantled the Bangladesh top order with the new ball.

💥 Farhan's Blazing Start Gives Pakistan Early Control

After being sent in to bat, Pakistan’s openers laid down a strong foundation, racing to 82 without loss. Farhan was the aggressor, smashing Taskin Ahmed for 15 in a single over and lifting Pakistan to 57/0 at the end of the powerplay. He brought up his fifty off 33 balls, displaying clean hitting throughout.

Farhan eventually fell for a dominant 63 off 41 balls, an innings decorated with 5 sixes and 6 fours. Partner Saim Ayub chipped in with 21 off 15 balls, before falling to Nasum Ahmed after a patchy start.

A brief scoring lull followed Farhan’s dismissal, but contributions from Hasan Nawaz (33 off 17) and Mohammad Nawaz (27 off 16) helped Pakistan close at a competitive 178/5 in 20 overs.

Taskin Ahmed led Bangladesh’s bowling with 3 wickets, while Nasum Ahmed claimed 2/21 in an economical four-over spell.

Bangladesh Crumble Under Pressure in Run Chase

Bangladesh’s pursuit of 179 got off to a nightmare start. Their top order collapsed under pressure from Pakistan’s seamers, losing 5 wickets inside the powerplay for just 25 runs. The innings unraveled quickly — much like Pakistan's own top-order collapse in the second T20I.

Tanzid Hasan was dismissed on the second ball for a golden duck, while skipper Litton Das (8) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (9) followed soon after. Pakistan’s bowlers tightened the noose, with Salman Mirza cleaning up Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan in the same over, reducing Bangladesh to 25/5 within 5 overs.

The home side never recovered. Mohammad Saifuddin, batting at the tail, offered resistance with a fighting 35 not out off 34 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 2 fours. Thanks to his late flourish, Bangladesh at least managed to breach the 100-run mark.

But their innings ended at 104 in 16.4 overs, falling short by a massive 74 runs.

🔥 Bowling Brilliance from Pakistan

Salman Mirza was the pick of the bowlers, returning impressive figures of 3 for 19 in 4 overs. He was well-supported by Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz, both chipping in with two wickets each as Pakistan’s attack kept the pressure on from start to finish.

🏅 Post-Match Awards
