Pakistan Beat Afghanistan in Tri-Series Opener | Agha & Rauf Star

Pakistan Crush Afghanistan in Tri-Series Opener Thanks to Agha and Rauf

SHARJAH — In a stunning start to the tri-nation T20I series, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 39 runs, with standout performances from Salman Ali Agha and Haris Rauf lighting up the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Pursuing 183, Afghanistan folded for just 143 in 19.5 overs under intense pressure. Early breakthroughs from Shaheen Afridi, who removed Ibrahim Zadran for 9, set the tone as Pakistan’s attack never let up.

Although Sediqullah Atal and Rahmanullah Gurbaz combined for a threatening 51-run partnership, the momentum shifted sharply when Rauf delivered a game-changing double-wicket maiden in the 11th over, dismissing both Atal and Karim Janat.

Despite a late flourish from Rashid Khan, hitting 39 off 16 balls with five maximums, the Afghan innings collapsed under pressure.

Earlier, in Pakistan’s successful chase, a fiery start by Sahibzada Farhan—21 off 10 including two sixes—and a vital 53-run stand between Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Nawaz stabilized the innings from a precarious 83/4.

Agha remained unbeaten at 53 off 36 balls, smashing three fours and an equal number of sixes to power Pakistan to 182/7.

Alongside Rauf’s four wickets, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, and Sufiyan Muqeem also chipped in with two scalps each to seal a comprehensive victory.
